Howard West Jr Americas from Siemens Academic and Research Programs Digital Factory Division delivers in person the in-kind Software Grant from Siemens PLM Software to Professor Alberto Cuitiño, Chairman of the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department. Dr. Onur Bilgen, assistant professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at Rutgers was responsible for securing the software grant.

Congratulations to our Rutgers Drone Racing Team (RUFPV) team for their success at the second annual Collegiate Drone Racing National Championship at Purdue University. A special shout out to our captain, Lincoln Black, who placed 7th out of the 70 pilots. Overall, our team ranked 16th against the 25 competing teams. The RUFPV team continues to build their skill in preparation for future events including the 2019 National Championship and even potentially bringing the race to Rutgers!

On Friday, February 23rd, 2018 the East Brunswick High School Science Honors Society, with the help of its advisors hosted a Science Night for fourth and fifth graders from two East Brunswick elementary schools. The society organized the event with a view to increasing interest in science both scientific fields and contemporary scientific issues among these children.

The 3rd Thermal and Fluids Engineering Conference (TFEC) was held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from March 4-7, 2018. As the President of the American Society of Thermal and Fluids Engineers (ASTFE), which organizes these conferences, Professor Yogesh Jaluria welcomed the participants, outlined the status and vision of the society, presented awards, and chaired sessions and Board meetings of the society. The conference had about 400 papers, 4 Plenary talks, 9 keynote talks, 6 panel discussions and 6 special talks on entrepreneurship and communication in engineering.

Professor Jon Singer has been awarded the 2018 3M Non-Tenured Faculty Award. The 3M Nontenured Faculty Award was created over twenty-five years ago by 3M’s Technical Community in partnership with 3M Giving Program to invest in individuals who will lead university teaching and research programs in the future.
